Brian Armstrong, CCM, is a club industry leader with over 20 years of club general management experience running member-owned and for-profit private, city, and country clubs.
Brian’s entrance to the industry began on the golf course and continued as he worked his way up through the PGA program, learned the food and beverage side of the industry, advanced to the role of General Manager, and ultimately achieved Certified Club Manager (CCM) status from CMAA.
As the General Manager of the Country Club of Fairfax (VA.) Brian led the club through completing a $12 million Club Improvement Plan, which enhanced and modernized all of the club’s amenities, including tennis and racquets. Brian’s leadership included oversight of the strategic planning process and implementing a capital reserve study before the improvement plan’s approval by the membership and completion.
In 2020, Brian began presenting the Strategic Planning and Capital Budgeting module for the Certified Racquet Sports Executive (CRSE) Program, an executive education program for certified Racquet Sports Professionals.
Brian was elected President of the National Capital Chapter of the Club Management Association of America in 2012 and then again in 2013. He served for over five years on the Association’s Board and for many more years on various committees. Brian is well known and highly regarded in the private club industry, having attended numerous CMAA World Conferences, PGA Merchandise Shows, and National Club Association Conferences. He continues to stay abreast of current trends within the club management industry.
In addition to his role as Executive Search Consultant, he is currently the Principal with Armstrong Consulting, providing management and executive level recruiting services to the club and hospitality industry. He earned his undergraduate degree in Marketing from the University of South Carolina.
